SUMMARY:Day 2 — Beaches and the fishermen
DESCRIPTION:1. Unawatuna Beach (2 hours) — 20-minute drive east of Galle. C
 alm\, crescent-shaped bay protected by a reef — the most beginner-friendly
swim on the south coast. Get there before 9am if you want quiet sand.\n\n
 2. Jungle Beach (1.5 hours) — Tucked-away cove on the next headland west o
f Unawatuna. 15-minute walk through the jungle from the trailhead. Good sn
orkelling\; bring your own gear or rent at the beach (~Rs 500).\n\n3. Japa
nese Peace Pagoda (45 min) — On the hill above Jungle Beach. Short uphill
walk\; quiet\, with sweeping views back toward the fort. Free entry. Best
in late afternoon when the heat eases.\n\n4. Stilt fishermen at Koggala (4
5 min) — 20 minutes further east along the coast road. The fishermen pose
for tourists on the stilts now — bring cash (Rs 500-1000 per group photo i
s reasonable). Go at golden hour (5-6pm). Ignore the touts\; just hand cas
h directly to a fisherman.\n\n5. Maritime Archaeology Museum (inside the f
ort) (1 hour) — On the way back\, if you have an hour — exhibits on Dutch
and Portuguese shipwrecks in the bay. Easy to pair with a final fort-side
 dinner.\n\nFull itinerary: https://induwara.lk/tools/trip-planner/galle-2-
