Who I am
My name is Induwara Ashinsana. I'm a Sri Lankan student and software engineer. By day I'm studying Information Systems at the University of Colombo School of Computing — UCSC's degree programme that combines computer science with business and information management. Outside class I lead engineering as Executive Director at Ryzera Technologies, a small Sri Lanka–based team that builds products and internal tooling for clients across South Asia.
Why induwara.lk exists
Most Sri Lankans I know have, at some point, opened an unsourced calculator to figure out their PAYE — and then double-checked it against a friend, just in case, because the page never said where its numbers came from. I started building induwara.lk to fix that for the calculators I personally use most: tax, EPF, EMI, FD yield, GPA, vehicle revenue licence, NIC validator. The bar I've set is simple — every tool should be the most accurate, fastest, and best-sourced version of itself online.
Brackets and rates come from the relevant authority (Inland Revenue Department, University Grants Commission, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Customs, RMV). Calculation methodology and the source are shown on every tool page so you can verify the math yourself. There are no accounts to create and no paywall — every tool is free, and stays free. The site is built and maintained from Sri Lanka, on a single VPS, in the open.
Running it is not free, though: a server, a domain, transactional email, and the model calls behind the AI tools all cost money every month. That is covered by memberships and by advertising on some pages. Adverts are chosen by the ad network, never by me, and no advertiser has ever influenced a number on this site — if a rate here is wrong, it is my mistake, not someone's sponsorship.
How this site is built
Worth being straight about, because it is unusual: induwara.lk is built with heavy help from AI. An automated pipeline proposes tools, writes the first draft of the calculation module and the page around it, and runs the type checks, linting and build before anything can ship. That is how one person maintains several hundred tools.
What that does not mean is that nobody is accountable for it. Every calculator is written against a named official source — Inland Revenue, the Central Bank, the UGC, Customs, the RMV — with the date it was last verified printed on the page, and where a source is unclear the pipeline is required to stop and ask me rather than guess. I review what goes out, and my name is on it. When something is wrong, it is my error to fix, and telling me is the fastest way to get it corrected.
What I do at Ryzera Technologies
As Executive Director at Ryzera, I lead engineering and shipping. We build products and internal tools for clients across Sri Lanka and the region — things that go beyond what off-the-shelf SaaS handles. Engineering quality, predictable delivery, and quiet operations are what we're known for.
