AI Citation Generator — cite ChatGPT, Claude & Gemini

Every major style guide has now published a specific rule for citing content made by a generative-AI tool such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. This generator does not guess or paraphrase those rules — it slots your fields into each guide's own template. There is no arithmetic; the only transforms are date formatting, prompt shortening for the MLA in-text citation, and stripping thehttps://scheme from the URL where MLA requires it. Here is what each style produces:

• APA 7th. The company is the author and the model name is italicised: Company. (Year). Model (Version version) [Large language model]. URL. In-text: (Company, Year). The year comes from the date you used the tool.
• MLA 9th. The prompt is the title and the tool is the container: "Prompt" prompt. Tool, Version version, Company, Date, URL. There is no author, the date is written MLA-style (15 July 2026), and the in-text citation is a shortened prompt title.
• Chicago 17th. AI is treated like personal communication, so it is cited in a numbered note: n. Tool, response to "Prompt," Company, Month D, YYYY, URL. No bibliography entry or author-date in-text citation is normally needed.
• Harvard (Cite Them Right). Company (Year) Tool (Version) [Large language model]. Available at: URL (Accessed: date). In-text: (Company, Year).
• IEEE. A bracketed-number online-source entry: [n] Company, "Tool response to 'Prompt'," Version, Mon. D, YYYY. [Online]. Available: URL In-text: [n].

Because these are fixed, published rules, the output is deterministic — the same inputs always produce the same citation. To prove it, five reference entries, one per style, are hand-reconciled against the source pages and re-run through the same engine on every page load; the badge in the tool header shows how many reproduce their expected text exactly.
