Best AI Resume Builder — Rezi vs Teal vs Kickresume vs Zety
Set your budget and what matters most — ATS, design, AI writing or job tailoring — and get a ranked pick from nine AI resume builders. Every feature and price is traceable to the vendor's own page. No signup, no ads, no affiliate ranking.
How it works
This tool does not guess and does not call an AI model. It runs a deterministic weighted-match score over a fixed table of nine builders — Rezi, Teal, Kickresume, Enhancv, Zety, Novoresume, Resume.io, Canva and the free “ChatGPT + manual” route. Every feature bit and price in that table is a factual claim taken from the vendor's own pricing or features page, snapshotted on 2026-07-18. The same number therefore comes out for the same inputs, every time.
- Budget filter. For each builder the tool picks the best plan whose monthly price fits your cap. If the entry paid plan is within budget it scores the paid feature set; otherwise it falls back to a genuinely usable free tier; builders with neither are dimmed, not hidden, so you can still compare them.
- Priority weight.Your chosen priority — ATS optimization, AI bullet writing, design & templates, or one-click job tailoring — is given weight 3. The other three dimensions get weight 1 each.
- Requirement toggles.Turning on “need a cover letter” or “need LinkedIn import” adds a weight-2 term that a builder only earns if it actually ships that feature.
- Score. The match score is
score = Σ (weightᵢ × hasFeatureᵢ), where eachhasFeatureᵢis 1 or 0 straight from the vendor data. The recommendation card shows every term so the total is auditable at a glance. - Ties.Equal scores break by lower plan price, then a larger free-tier allowance, then name A→Z — so the ordering is fully reproducible. Experience level only re-frames the “why” copy; it never changes a score.
The ATS-friendliness definition follows Jobscan's guidance: a resume passes an applicant-tracking system when its text is machine-readable and its wording matches the job posting. That is a property of the exported document and the keywords, not of the tool's brand — which is why the “ATS” column marks text-based builders yes and flags graphical, design-first layouts as a parsing risk.
