AAT Exemptions Sri Lanka: Checker, Subjects & Fees
Tell it what you already hold, A/L passes, a degree, an HNDA, CIMA, CMASL or CA Sri Lanka subjects, and it shows which of AAT's 13subjects you can skip, how many papers are left, the exemption fee at AAT's published rates, and when applications close.
How it works
This is a lookup and a sum, not a model. AAT publishes every exemption route on one page, in subject codes, with the fee table and the closing dates in separate blocks. The checker holds that page as data and does the four steps for you.
Step 1, resolve the route. Each published route is stored with AAT's own wording and the subject codes it releases. Routes phrased as "complete exemption from Level I" expand to the four Level I codes. Routes phrased as "Level I and Level II except Financial & Cost Accounting" expand to those eight codes minus 2801. The A/L and CA Sri Lanka routes are per-subject maps instead of fixed blocks, so the exempt set is the union of the mappings for the subjects you tick. Picking two modules that both release 1603 Economics counts it once.
Step 2, count the papers left. The AAT Examination Syllabus 2025-2030 has 13 papers: Level I (1901, 1902, 1603, 1604), Level II (2801, 2802, 2803, 2804), Level III (3801, 3802, 3803, 3804) and the Talent Capstone paper 305. Papers remaining is those 13 minus the exemptions you claim. AAT also says your choice to complete a subject must be either by examination or by exemption only, so you can untick any granted exemption to sit it instead, and the count and the fee both follow.
Step 3, price it.The exemption fee is charged per subject at the rate for that subject's level: Level I Rs 2,600, Level II Rs 3,100, Level III Rs 3,300, Talent Capstone Rs 3,100, effective 1 October 2026. The checker sums the rates subject by subject and then recomputes the same total as subjects-per-level multiplied by the per-level rate, which is how the application form is filled in. The two methods are printed only when they agree.
Step 4, the deadline.AAT publishes two closing dates and no years: 31 March for a July examination, 30 September for a January examination. A July paper's deadline is 31 March of the same year. A January paper's is 30 September of the year before, which is the only reading that puts the deadline ahead of the paper.
One trap worth naming, because it changes the answer. AAT's exemptions page ships two fee tables, and the superseded one, headed "Effect from 20th September 2025" at Rs 2,400 / 2,900 / 3,100 / 2,900, sits inside an HTML comment, so a scraper that does not strip comments returns those figures. The live table is the one headed 1 October 2026, and AAT's separate exemption FAQ prints the same four figures, which is the second source used here.
Scope. This page answers "which subjects, and what does the exemption cost". For registration, examination and annual subscription fees, use the accountancy qualification cost calculator; for ACCA and CIMA costs, the ACCA and CIMA cost calculator; and to see where a qualification sits on the national framework, the SLQF level checker. ACCA and CIMA as the target qualification are out of scope, because their exemption data sits behind an enquiry tool rather than a published schedule, and nothing here is a guarantee: exemptions are granted on application with certified documents.

AAT adds two notes of its own: any other qualification acceptable to the Governing Council is decided case by case, and where the previous entitlement criteria have not been revised under the current syllabus, exemptions are granted under the criteria that prevailed at the time.
What your AAT is worth at CA Sri Lanka
The reverse direction, in CA Sri Lanka's own words. Members and passed finalists of AAT are exempted from the Certificate Level training requirement of CA Sri Lanka. That is subject to:
- Completion of two years' practical training in a training organization approved by CA Sri Lanka, under the supervision of a member of CA Sri Lanka.
- The training has to be completed under a training agreement identical to an agreement signed by a Certificate Level trainee of CA Sri Lanka.
- The record of training has to be maintained in a manner identical to the scheme specified for a Certificate Level trainee of CA Sri Lanka.
CA Sri Lanka exemption fee for AAT, 2026
- AAT Sri Lanka Curriculum 2025-2030Rs 22,000
- AAT Sri Lanka Curriculum 2020-2025Rs 16,500
Payment code RE03. Documents required: Recommendation letter from AAT Sri Lanka; AAT results sheets, all three level certificates, certified by the AAT institute.
CA Sri Lanka spells its own level "Cooperate Level" on that page; written here as Corporate Level. CA Sri Lanka lists both AAT curricula in its 2026 fee schedule but publishes the module grid only against its 2015 curriculum, and runs an exemptions enquiry database for the 2025 curriculum detail.CA Sri Lanka also publishes a per-programme exemption schedule for named university degree programmes, hosted as files that are not publicly readable, so use CA Sri Lanka's exemptions page for that detail rather than this one.
How to apply and what to send
