“Est. monthly cost” = your monthly volume × effective rate + the plan's fixed monthly fee. WebXPay X-Wallet's Rs 1,000/year is spread as Rs 83/month. Onepay's variable monthly plan fee and Rs 1,500 setup are not included.

When does PayHere Plus beat the free Lite plan?

On local-card volume, Plus (2.99% + Rs 3,990/mo) becomes cheaper than Lite (3.30%, no monthly) once you process about Rs 1,287,097 per month. Below that, stay on Lite.

How it works

Every online payment gateway keeps a percentage of each sale as a processing fee, and some charge a fixed monthly subscription on top. This calculator models both parts using the providers' published rate cards, so you can see your true take-home before you pick a gateway or price a product.

The core arithmetic is deliberately simple and deterministic:

  1. Effective rate.Start from the plan's base rate for a local card, then apply the method add-on. For PayHere: a premium card (Amex/Diners/Discover) adds 0.5%, and a foreign-currency card adds 1.0%. HelaPay, PayHere's local wallet, replaces the plan rate with a flat 1.99%.
  2. Per-transaction fee. fee = amount × effective rate, and your net payout is amount − fee.
  3. Estimated monthly cost. cost = volume × rate + monthly fee. The percentage part equals volume × rate no matter how many transactions make it up. WebXPay X-Wallet's Rs 1,000/year annual fee is spread as Rs 83/month.
  4. Break-even between plans. To find where a cheaper-% paid plan overtakes a free plan, solve V × r₁ + M₁ = V × r₂ + M₂ for the volume: V* = (M₁ − M₂) / (r₂ − r₁). Above V* the lower-percentage plan wins; below it, the free plan does.

PayHere is the primary, canonical source here: it publishes a fixed public fee schedule, so its figures are exact — Lite 3.30% (no monthly fee), Plus 2.99% (Rs 3,990/month) and Premium 2.69% (Rs 9,990/month), with HelaPay at 1.99% on every plan. WebXPay and Onepay do not publish a full public rate card and negotiate by merchant, so their figures are shown as indicative and flagged in the tool — confirm them with the provider. Government levies such as VAT and SSCL that a provider may add on top of the processing fee are out of scope, because each invoices them differently and an exact combined figure is not publicly deterministic. Worked examples

Rs 5,000 local card sale — Lite vs HelaPay

  1. PayHere Lite local card: rate = 3.30%
  2. Fee = 5,000 × 0.033 = Rs 165.00
  3. Net payout = 5,000 − 165 = Rs 4,835.00
  4. Same sale via HelaPay (1.99%): fee = 5,000 × 0.0199 = Rs 99.50
  5. Net via HelaPay = Rs 4,900.50 — Rs 65.50 cheaper

Rs 100,000 foreign-currency payment — freelancer on Lite

  1. Foreign card add-on: 3.30% + 1.0% = 4.30%
  2. Fee = 100,000 × 0.043 = Rs 4,300.00
  3. Net payout = 100,000 − 4,300 = Rs 95,700.00
  4. To net a clean Rs 100,000, invoice ≈ Rs 104,300

Lite vs Plus break-even — does the subscription pay off?

  1. Lite = 3.30%, Rs 0/mo · Plus = 2.99%, Rs 3,990/mo
  2. Break-even V* = 3,990 / (0.0330 − 0.0299)
  3. V* = 3,990 / 0.0031 = Rs 1,287,097 / month
  4. At Rs 1,500,000/mo: Lite = 1,500,000 × 0.033 = Rs 49,500
  5. Plus = 1,500,000 × 0.0299 + 3,990 = Rs 48,840 → Plus wins by Rs 660
  6. Below ~Rs 1.29M/mo, the free Lite plan is cheaper
