Who sits this exam
SC-100: Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert is aimed at SOC analysts, network engineers and anyone moving into a security role. It is an expert-level exam and is usually taken after the associate certification in the same track. Sri Lankan banks, ISPs and BPO firms hire against named security certifications, and the exam fee is usually the part that stalls people.

One official single-use exam voucher for SC-100, SC-100: Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert, covering the exam fee in full. It is a code, not a study course and not a practice test. There is nothing physical to ship and no delivery charge.
When it arrives
Emailed to the address on your order once we have confirmed the payment, by a person rather than automatically. In practice that is usually the same day and almost always within one working day. If sourcing a particular voucher is going to take longer, we tell you rather than leaving the order sitting.
How long it stays valid
12 months from purchase. Book and sit the exam before it expires, a code that has simply run out of time cannot be replaced, so do not buy months ahead of when you plan to use it.
How you redeem it
Book the exam with Pearson VUE as normal, then enter this code at the payment step instead of paying the fee. You choose the date, and whether you sit it at a test centre or from home with OnVUE proctoring.
If the code does not work
If the vendor rejects it when you try to redeem it, tell us straight away and we replace it or refund you in full. Contact us before the voucher’s own expiry date.
If you do not pass
A voucher covers one attempt. A retake needs a new voucher, and the vendor, not us, sets how long you must wait before sitting the exam again. Check the vendor’s retake policy before you book.
Changing your mind
Full refund for any reason as long as we have not yet sent the code, including if you realise you have ordered the wrong exam, which is easy to do when codes look alike. In Sri Lanka the realistic demand is at banks and financial institutions under regulatory security obligations, telecommunications operators, and the Colombo security and managed-services teams that serve overseas clients, plus consultancy work advising on Zero Trust and cloud security posture. It is also a credential that travels well for remote or overseas roles.

Sri Lanka sits in the lowest band on Pearson VUE's published Microsoft price list at 58 USD for a role-based exam, against 165 USD for the United States, making this an unusually accessible price for an expert-level security certification. The real cost is the prerequisite: you must also pass a qualifying associate exam such as SC-200, which means two vouchers and two sittings. Both are delivered by Pearson VUE, at a test centre or from home under OnVUE online proctoring. Locally, the audience is security staff in banking and telecommunications and the managed security services teams operating out of Colombo for overseas clients.

Can I get the Cybersecurity Architect Expert certification by passing SC-100 alone?
No. SC-100 is the only required exam, but the certification page also lists a prerequisite of three certifications, of which you must earn at least one: Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300), Security Operations Analyst Associate (SC-200), or Cloud and AI Security Engineer Associate (SC-500). Passing SC-100 without one of those leaves you with a passed exam and no certification.
Does AZ-500 still satisfy the prerequisite?
No, not any more. Microsoft's credential-retirement page shows Azure Security Engineer Associate as retired on 31 August 2026, and it no longer appears on the Cybersecurity Architect Expert prerequisite list. Its place has been taken by Cloud and AI Security Engineer Associate, exam SC-500. Older guides still listing AZ-500 as a route are out of date.
Which associate exam is the cheapest way in?
SC-200, the Security Operations Analyst exam, is priced in the same Pearson VUE band as SC-100, so budget for two vouchers in total. SC-300 and SC-500 are the alternatives if identity or cloud security engineering is closer to your day job — note SC-500 is currently offered in English only and is a 120-minute exam.
What is the exam blueprint?
Microsoft publishes the weightings: design security operations, identity, and compliance capabilities at 25-30%; design security solutions for infrastructure at 25-30%; design solutions that align with security best practices and priorities at 20-25%; and design security solutions for applications and data at 20-25%. The English version was updated on 28 July 2026, which brought AI security into the candidate profile.
How long is the exam and what is the pass mark?
Microsoft does not publish a duration on the SC-100 exam page. Its general duration table gives associate and expert role-based exams 100 minutes of exam time and 120 minutes of seat time, rising to 120 and 140 minutes for exams that may contain labs; Microsoft does not publish which exams contain labs, so you are told your exam time when you register. The pass mark is stated on the SC-100 page as 700 out of 1,000.
Why is this expert exam cheaper in Sri Lanka than abroad?
Microsoft sets exam prices by the country the exam is proctored in, not by a single world price. On Pearson VUE's published Microsoft price list, Sri Lanka sits in the lowest band on the sheet: 58 USD for a role-based exam against 165 USD for the United States, with a lower academic rate again for eligible students and educators. That is why figures quoted on international sites look nothing like ours. Our voucher price is Rs 13,000/=.
How long does the certification stay valid?
Twelve months. Microsoft role-based and specialty certifications expire unless renewed, but Microsoft states renewal is free: a shorter, unproctored, open-book assessment on Microsoft Learn inside a six-month eligibility window, with no second voucher and no proctor. Only the first sitting is paid.
