AI Chatbot Age Requirement Checker
Enter an age and country to see which of 9 AI chatbots — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, Grok, Meta AI, Character.AI and DeepSeek — a person is allowed to use, whether parental consent is needed, and the exact minimum age each provider sets in its own Terms of Service. Free, no signup, every figure cited.
How it works
This is a lookup, not a calculator. Each of the 9 AI assistants publishes a minimum sign-up age in its Terms of Service. The tool stores those figures verbatim — nothing is inferred — and evaluates a short rule for the age, region, and consent you enter.
Every provider record holds four values read from the source: a base minimum age to sign up on your own account, an optional minimum age with parental consent, an optional EU/EEA override, and a note on whether the consent path is blocked in the EEA and UK. For a given input the rule runs in order:
- Resolve the effective minimum age. If the region is the EU/EEA or UK and the provider sets a higher floor there (Character.AI is 16 instead of 13), use that; otherwise use the global minimum.
- If the entered age is at or above that effective minimum, the verdict is Allowed.
- Otherwise, if the provider offers a parental-consent path and the age clears its consent floor: the verdict is Allowed with parental consent when you set consent to Yes, or Needs parental consent when it is No.
- If the age is below every available path, the verdict is Not allowed yet, and the tool shows how many years until the first path opens.
Two providers set no explicit lower age for their guardian-managed path. Google Gemini lets a parent enable an under-13 child through a Family Link supervised account, and DeepSeek permits under-18 use “only with the consent of your legal guardian” without naming a floor. Both are encoded as an any age with consent path rather than a guessed number, and flagged with an asterisk in the reference table. The only arithmetic anywhere is the years-until-eligible subtraction; every other output is a direct age comparison.
To keep the results trustworthy, a cross-check recomputes each verdict a second way — from the youngest usable age for the current consent setting — and confirms all 9 agree, the same idea as verifying a tax figure with a second formula. Region is deliberately bucketed (Sri Lanka, EU/EEA, USA, UK, Other); this tool does not model per-US-state or per-EU-member digital-consent ages, which can shift the Google Account and OpenAI floors by a year or two inside the EU.
