How it works
This calculator compares AI coding assistants on price alone, using a versioned table of published subscription rates. Every figure is a fixed lookup from the vendor's official pricing page — there is no live API, no scraping, and no opinion baked into the totals. The maths is the kind of arithmetic you would do on paper, made fast and repeatable.
- Seat subtotal. For each assistant on its chosen tier, the tool reads the per-seat monthly price. On annual billing it uses the vendor's published annual rate where one exists, otherwise twelve times the monthly price.
- Period total. Monthly billing is
seats × monthly; annual billing isseats × annual-per-seat. - Per developer per month. To compare tiers fairly across billing periods, every row is also reduced to
12-month total ÷ seats ÷ 12. - Metered API add-on.Claude Code can also run pay-as-you-go on Anthropic's API. When enabled, the tool adds
tokens (millions) × $6/1Mto the Claude row and shows it split from the seat price, so the seat figure stays comparable. The $6/1M blend assumes a coding-typical 75% input / 25% output mix of Anthropic's published Sonnet rates ($3 input, $15 output per 1M): 0.75 × 3 + 0.25 × 15 = $6. - Annual saving. Where a discounted annual rate exists, the tool shows
(monthly × 12 − annual) × seats— only when it is positive. - Cheapest pick. The lowest 12-month total wins (API included when the toggle is on). Ties are broken in favour of the more generous request or credit quota.
The LKR column multiplies the USD total by a static, editable reference rate (default Rs 305/USD). It is a planning estimate, not a live forex feed — vendors bill in dollars and your card issuer's rate will differ. As an internal cross-check, the tool re-derives each 12-month total from the per-developer-per-month figure (perDev × seats × 12) and confirms the two paths agree to the cent.
