Longer tracks burn more credits, so they shrink each plan's monthly song allowance. Mubert is track-based and unaffected.

Bars compare the full billed monthly cost (plan price × seats needed). Cost per song in the table divides that by your requested volume — the real metric to rank on.

How it works

AI music services price in credits, not songs, which makes comparing them genuinely confusing. This calculator normalises every provider to a single number you can act on: the effective cost per song you actually need. The methodology is the same for all four providers, and every plan price and allowance is hand-verified against the vendor pricing pages cited at the bottom of this page (last checked 2026-06-09).

For each provider, the steps are:

  1. Filter by licence. If you require commercial use, drop the non-commercial tiers (Suno Basic, Udio Free, ElevenLabs Free, Mubert Ambassador) — they forbid selling or monetising the output.
  2. Convert credits to songs.A plan's monthly song allowance is floor(monthly_credits ÷ credits_per_song). Suno costs ~5 credits/song (10 per generation, two songs each), Udio ~10, and ElevenLabs Music ~3,000 because a full track is credit-heavy. Mubert is priced per downloadable track, so it uses a flat track allowance instead.
  3. Adjust for length. A short clip costs about half the credits of a standard 2–4 minute track; an extended track needs a continuation pass, roughly double. The length selector scales credits-per-song accordingly (Mubert, being track-based, is unaffected).
  4. Pick the cheapest plan that covers you.Among qualifying plans whose allowance ≥ your requested songs, choose the lowest-priced one. If no single plan covers your volume, the tool surfaces the largest plan and flags how many subscriptions ("seats") you would need — it never silently picks a plan that falls short.
  5. Compute the real per-song cost. cost_per_song = (plan_price × seats) ÷ songs_you_need. This divides by what you actually need, not the plan's theoretical maximum, because you pay the whole subscription either way.
  6. Convert to rupees and rank. monthly_lkr = monthly_usd × usd_to_lkr_rate (default CBSL indicative, editable). Providers are ranked by cost per song ascending; the top row is your recommendation.

As a credibility check, the calculator re-derives every plan's song allowance straight from its published credit pool and compares it to the figure used in the math. That credit→song cross-check, run live on this page, currently passes.

Worked-example self-test (computed live on this page) — each line reconciles the formula above with the hand-derived numbers in the code header:

  • A · 20 songs · commercial · Suno Pro → cost/song $0.5000 (got $0.5000)
  • A · 20 songs · commercial · Udio Standard → cost/song $0.5000 (got $0.5000)
  • A · 20 songs · commercial · ElevenLabs Creator → cost/song $1.1000 (got $1.1000)
  • A · 20 songs · commercial · Mubert Creator → cost/song $0.5995 (got $0.5995)
  • B · 800 songs · commercial · Suno Premier → cost/song $0.0375 (got $0.0375)
  • B · 800 songs · commercial · Udio Standard → cost/song $0.0125 (got $0.0125)
  • B · 800 songs · commercial · Mubert Business → cost/song $0.2500 (got $0.2500)
  • C · 0 songs · commercial · Suno (cost per song 0) → cost/song $0.0000 (got $0.0000)
  • D · boundary 500 songs · commercial · Suno Pro → cost/song $0.0200 (got $0.0200)
  • E · 1,000,000,000 songs · commercial · Suno Premier (500,000 seats) → cost/song $0.0150 (got $0.0150)
  • F · 20 songs · commercial · short length · Udio Standard → cost/song $0.5000 (got $0.5000)

Out of scope for v1: live price scraping (brittle and against most vendors' terms — quarterly hand-verification is more honest); annual-billing discounts (monthly billing only); per-stem or per-second micro-pricing; and any judgement on music quality or licensing law. This tool prices plans; it does not rank sound or give legal advice. If AI music is one line item in a wider model budget, the AI TTS Cost Calculator and AI Image Generation Cost Calculator use the same USD-and-LKR, sources-cited approach for the other halves of the stack.

Worked examples

Hobby creator · 20 commercial songs/month · standard length

A Colombo YouTuber posting a few Reels a week, USD→LKR at Rs 300. Commercial licence required.

  1. Suno Pro: 2,500 credits ÷ 5 = 500 songs ≥ 20 → $10/mo. Cost/song = $10 ÷ 20 = $0.50 (Rs 150)
  2. Udio Standard: 12,000 credits ÷ 10 = 1,200 songs ≥ 20 → $10/mo. Cost/song = $0.50 (Rs 150)
  3. ElevenLabs: Starter (10 songs) too small; Creator 100,000 ÷ 3,000 = 33 ≥ 20 → $22/mo. Cost/song = $1.10
  4. Mubert Creator: 500 tracks ≥ 20 → $11.99/mo. Cost/song = $11.99 ÷ 20 = $0.60
  5. Cheapest: Suno Pro and Udio Standard tie at Rs 3,000/mo ($0.50/song).

Ad agency · 800 commercial songs/month · standard length

A small agency producing many client deliverables. USD→LKR at Rs 300. Commercial licence required.

  1. Suno: Pro covers only 500 < 800 → Premier (10,000 ÷ 5 = 2,000) covers → $30/mo. Cost/song = $30 ÷ 800 = $0.0375 (Rs 11.25)
  2. Udio: Standard 1,200 ≥ 800 → stays on $10/mo. Cost/song = $10 ÷ 800 = $0.0125 (Rs 3.75)
  3. Mubert: Creator and Pro cap at 500 < 800 → Business (1,000 tracks) → $199.99/mo. Cost/song = $0.25
  4. ElevenLabs: needs 800 tracks → Business (11M ÷ 3,000 = 3,666) → $1,320/mo. Cost/song = $1.65
  5. Cheapest: Udio Standard at Rs 3,000/mo — the larger $10 allowance avoids a tier jump.

Edge case · 5,000 commercial songs/month · standard length

Volume beyond any single plan — the tool flags multi-subscription rather than under-quoting.

  1. Udio Pro: 48,000 credits ÷ 10 = 4,800 songs < 5,000 → does not cover on one seat
  2. Seats needed = ceil(5,000 ÷ 4,800) = 2 → billed = $30 × 2 = $60/mo (flagged '×2 seats')
  3. Suno Premier: 2,000 < 5,000 → seats = ceil(5,000 ÷ 2,000) = 3 → $90/mo
  4. Cost/song (Udio, 2 seats) = $60 ÷ 5,000 = $0.012 (Rs 3.60) — still the cheapest path
  5. Takeaway: at this scale you are buying multiple subscriptions or negotiating overage, and the tool says so instead of hiding it.
