2026 A/L results: release status
Expected, no date yet

Target: before the end of 2026. Not a confirmed date.

56 days left in the stated window, which ends on 31 December 2026. The Department has not published a results date. This line counts down to the end of its own target, nothing more.

“Steps will be taken to release the results of the 2026 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination before the end of this year.” Commissioner General of Examinations, reported by Ada Derana on 10 August 2026. Reported speech, not a Department notice.

Status checked against the Department's notices feed on 5 November 2026.

Both sites ask for the examination index number. The Department names only these two sites; an SMS option, if offered, is announced with the results.

Re-scrutiny fee calculator
Last year's fee, DoE notice

Count each paper you want re-checked. Which papers a candidate may send back is set out in each year's notice; last year a Common General Test mark under 30 that kept a candidate out of university could be re-scrutinised too.

Fee per subject

Rs 250

Total to pay

Rs 750

3 subjects at Rs 250 each comes to Rs 750.

Worked out at last year's fee of Rs 250 a subject, from the Department's notice of 6 April 2026. The 2026 fee and window are announced with the results. The fee is not refundable.

Example: three subjects at Rs 250 come to Rs 750, paid by card or at a post office before the window closes.

What would happen next, if results came on a given day

An estimate only. It copies the gaps from the A/L 2025 cycle: results on 31 March 2026, re-scrutiny six days later for 17 days, the UGC call 28 days later, cut-offs about four months later. No rule fixes these gaps; each year's notices set their own.

How it works

This page does three small jobs: it says whether the 2026 G.C.E. (A/L) results are out, it points you at the two official places to check them, and it prices a re-scrutiny application. Everything on it is read from a data file that names its source line by line, and anything that comes from a news report rather than a Department or UGC document is marked "reported".

Release status. The Department of Examinations publishes results notices on doenets.lk. Until the 2026 notice appears, the card above shows the only statement that exists: the Commissioner General's reported remark that results will come before the end of the year. The countdown counts to the end of that window, not to a date. When the notice is published the card switches to "Released on" and links it. Last checked 5 November 2026.

The 2026 examination, as reported. The exam ran from 10 August 2026 to 5 September 2026. News reports citing the Department put the candidates at 372,310 (264,496 school and 107,814 private) at 2,532 centres. Marking was due to finish by 25 October 2026; the Department has not said whether it did. The exam dates are on the Department's own time table; the other figures are reported.

Checking the result. Both official sites ask for the examination index number. The online result prints 9 fields: name, index number, nic, subject grades, common general test mark, district rank, island rank, z-score, subject stream. The Z-score, district rank and island rank come from this page, not from a separate publication. The Department names no SMS service in its 2025 or 2026 press reports, so this page prints no short code.

Re-scrutiny fee. The calculator multiplies the number of subjects by the fee in the Department's latest re-scrutiny notice, for the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination 2025: Rs 250 a subject, online only, same index number and NIC, card or post-office payment, not refundable, window 6 April 2026 to 22 April 2026. The 2026 fee is set by the 2026 notice, which follows the results. Until then the calculator says in words that it is using last year's figure.

What happens next. The timeline table below is the record of the 2025 cycle, with each row marked official or reported. The "try a release date" box reuses the gaps measured on that record (re-scrutiny opened 6 days after results for 17 days, the UGC call opened 28 days after, cut-offs 122 days after). Those gaps are not a rule. The 2024 cycle's UGC call opened 13 days after results, so the box is an illustration and says so.

Next steps. Your Z-score is the number the UGC ranks you on. The Z-score calculator shows how it is built from three raw marks, and the cut-off finder holds the UGC's official 2025/2026 district cut-offs for the most-searched courses. The 2026/2027 cut-offs will not exist until months after the results.

Last two cycles: what happened after results

The dates below are the ones this page's estimates are built on. Official rows come from a Department or UGC document; reported rows come from news reports and were not found on an official page.
