Sri Lanka Embassy Contact Details — Every Mission Abroad

There is no arithmetic here. The work is resolution — deciding which one of 63posts is responsible for the country you are standing in — and classification, deciding what that class of post can actually do for you. Both come from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' own register, one record per post, transcribed field by field.

1. Transcribe the register.Each post on MFA's six regional pages becomes one record: class, city, host country, address, office days and hours, telephone, fax, email, website, and the countries named on its “Also accredited to” line. A field MFA does not publish is stored as empty and rendered as “not published”. Nothing is filled in from a third-party directory.
2. Build the accreditation index. Every accreditation line is inverted into a country-to-post map. The build then checks that no country is claimed by two posts, that no post is accredited to its own host state, and that no accreditation names a country outside the table. All three checks pass on the current register.
3. Resolve a country.First, any post whose host state is that country, ordered embassy or high commission, then deputy high commission, then consulate general. If there is none, the accreditation index gives the covering post and the page says so plainly. If neither exists, the honest answer is that no Sri Lankan mission is accredited there, and the page points at MFA's Consular Affairs Division in Colombo.
4. Classify the services.Embassies, high commissions, the deputy high commission and consulates general perform the full consular set — passports, attestation, civil registration, dual citizenship, police clearance — inside their own district. A permanent mission is accredited to an international organisation rather than to a state and performs none. Where a post's own record contradicts its class, the record wins: Geneva is a permanent mission that is also the Consulate General in Switzerland, and runs a consular counter.
5. Show the post's clock. Each record carries an IANA time zone, so the card shows the wall time at the mission next to Sri Lanka time. Nothing in the answer depends on it; it is there so you do not telephone Ottawa at 3 a.m.

Two boundary cases are worth knowing about, because most directories get them wrong. Sri Lanka keeps a Consulate General in Nicosia while the Embassy in Rome holds the accreditation to Cyprus; and it keeps a consular post in Geneva while Berlin holds the accreditation to Switzerland. In both, the resident post answers the consular question and the accredited embassy is named beside it, rather than one being silently dropped.

The resolver is written twice. One path reads a pre-built country-to-post index; the other walks all 63 records from scratch, with no index at all. Both are run against every country in the table on each render, and the page will not claim agreement it has not measured.
