Emission Test Near Me: Find an Open Centre in Sri Lanka

Two companies are authorised to run Sri Lanka’s statutory vehicle emission test: LAUGFS Eco Sri Limited and CleanCo Lanka Limited, which trades as Drive Green. Each publishes its own centre list, neither publishes the other’s, and both bury the operating days where a motorist in a hurry will not find them. This page merges the two registers into one searchable list of 476centres and answers the question the operators’ own locators do not: is there a centre near me that is open on the day I can actually go.

There are no rates here. The computation is geographic and calendrical, and it runs in four steps.

1. Merge. 241 LAUGFS centres and 235 Drive Green stations, tagged by operator. Nothing is deduplicated where the two sit in the same town: they are separate businesses, the test fee is the same at both, and a motorist may use either. 80 towns hold one of each, which is exactly the fallback this tool is for.
2. Assign the district.Drive Green publishes a district for most of its stations; LAUGFS publishes none. So every centre takes the district of the nearest Grama Niladhari centroid in the Survey Department boundary set already used elsewhere on this site, 14,043 points, no centre further than 5.1 km from one. Checked against Drive Green’s own labels where they exist, the two agree on 226 of 228 stations. The two that differ, Pussellawa and Pallama, are both boundary towns, and the boundary set is what ships.
3. Distance.Haversine on each centre’s own WGS84 coordinates, on a sphere of mean radius 6,371.01 km:d = 2R·asin(√(sin²(Δφ/2) + cosφ₁·cosφ₂·sin²(Δλ/2))). The origin is the centroid of the centres registered in your town, so neither operator’s coordinate is treated as the town itself. The result is straight-line distance and is labelled as such: road distance needs a routing API and a request-time call, and this page makes neither.
4. Open on the day. LAUGFS publishes a structured per-weekday opening object, where a day is either a time window or a zero meaning closed. Drive Green publishes an hours sentence per station, which is parsed into the same seven-day shape. Across all 476centres there are only seven distinct opening windows, so each centre’s week is stored as seven indices into that table. When a centre is shut on your day, the finder walks forward to the next day it opens.

Two closure rules sit on top of the per-centre schedule. First, no centre in either register publishes Sunday hours, so Sunday is closed nationally rather than per centre. Second, Drive Green states on its stations page that it closes on Poya days and mercantile holidays; the finder applies that using the gazetted holiday calendar already in this repository, so no Poya date is ever restated here and the two pages cannot drift apart.

The split between a centre open all week and one that visits on set days is not a guess. On the LAUGFS side the register carries a mobile unit identifier, such as M 23, on exactly the 147 sites a touring unit serves, and the other 94 are open Monday to Saturday. Not one row crosses that line, which is why this page shows the unit code. Drive Green publishes no unit code, so its set-days stations are described by their days and never called a mobile unit here.

All of it is pure and deterministic. There is no API call at request time, no geolocation prompt and no key. The coordinates, the phone numbers and the schedules are in the page.

All 476 authorised centres as at 2026-10-16, split by how often each one operates. “Set days” means the centre publishes specific weekdays only, which includes every LAUGFS mobile unit.

Counted from the two operators’ published schedules on 2026-10-16. Poya days and mercantile holidays close centres that would otherwise be open, which the finder applies per date.

Both registers were fetched, parsed and counted on 2026-10-16, and the row counts are asserted in the data module so a refresh that silently drops centres fails the build rather than publishing quietly.
