About Kalutara
Kalutara stretches down the west coast just south of Colombo and is the southern half of the country's classic resort belt. Bentota and Beruwala have the wider beaches; the town itself is a stopover with one of the country's most-visited Buddhist sites.

Local tips for Kalutara
- →Avoid the west coast May–October — monsoon season, rough seas, most resorts cut prices but it rains daily.
- →Bentota River is calmer than the sea for kids — choose river-side water sports first.
- →Drop a coin at Kalutara Bodhiya if you're driving further south; it's a local tradition.
