How long it stays valid
12 months from purchase. Book and sit the exam before it expires, a code that has simply run out of time cannot be replaced, so do not buy months ahead of when you plan to use it.
How you redeem it
Book the exam with Pearson VUE as normal, then enter this code at the payment step instead of paying the fee. You choose the date, and whether you sit it at a test centre or from home with OnVUE proctoring.
If the code does not work
If the vendor rejects it when you try to redeem it, tell us straight away and we replace it or refund you in full. Contact us before the voucher’s own expiry date.
If you do not pass
A voucher covers one attempt. A retake needs a new voucher, and the vendor, not us, sets how long you must wait before sitting the exam again. Check the vendor’s retake policy before you book.
Changing your mind
Full refund for any reason as long as we have not yet sent the code, including if you realise you have ordered the wrong exam, which is easy to do when codes look alike. When does CySA+ CS0-003 retire, and can I still sit it?
You can still sit it, but not for long. CompTIA retires the English CS0-003 exam on 22 December 2026, with the Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish versions following on 23 March 2027. English learning products come off sale earlier, on 22 November 2026. The replacement, CySA+ V4 (CS0-004), launched on 23 June 2026. If you cannot realistically book and pass before the December date, buy CS0-004 instead.
What happens to my voucher if the exam retires before I use it?
It becomes worthless. CompTIA's voucher terms state that certification exam retirement dates supersede voucher expiration dates, and once an exam has retired, vouchers for that exam are no longer valid. CompTIA also does not allow vouchers to be returned, refunded or exchanged, so the retirement date - not the voucher's own expiry - is the deadline that matters.
How long is the CS0-003 exam and how many questions?
165 minutes for a maximum of 85 questions, mixing multiple-choice and performance-based items. Note the question count differs from most CompTIA exams, which cap at 90.
What is the passing score for CySA+ CS0-003?
750 on a scale of 100 to 900. The scale does not begin at zero, so 750 does not translate to a simple percentage.
Do I need Security+ before taking CySA+?
It is not enforced as a prerequisite. CompTIA recommends Network+, Security+ or equivalent knowledge together with a minimum of four years of hands-on experience as an incident response analyst or SOC analyst.
What is the difference between CS0-003 and the new CS0-004?
Both run 165 minutes with a maximum of 85 questions and a 750 passing score on the 100-900 scale. The domain weightings shift: CS0-004 is security operations 34%, vulnerability management 26%, incident response and management 24% and reporting and communication 16%, against 33/30/20/17 on CS0-003. CS0-004 launched in English with French, Japanese, Spanish and Portuguese listed as coming soon, whereas CS0-003 already has Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish versions.
Does CySA+ expire?
Yes. CySA+ is in CompTIA's Continuing Education programme and the renewal cycle is three years from the date of certification. You renew with CEUs and the annual CE fee, or by earning a higher-level CompTIA certification such as SecurityX.
