If the code does not work

A voucher covers one attempt. A retake needs a new voucher, and the vendor, not us, sets how long you must wait before sitting the exam again. Check the vendor’s retake policy before you book.

Nothing about the eJPT requires leaving the house: it is taken online through INE's own platform, so there is no test centre to book and no travel to Colombo. The 48-hour window INE describes means the +05:30 offset is irrelevant — you can start on a Saturday morning and still have a full working day in hand. The security roles that reference credentials like this in Sri Lanka sit mainly in the IT and BPO export sector, in bank and telco security teams, and in the managed-security firms staffing offshore SOC work; INE itself names MSPs and MSSPs among the audiences the exam is designed for. Buying the voucher locally in rupees also removes the need for a card enabled for foreign-currency charges. 48 hours, and 45 questions since INE's update of 26 March 2026, which raised the count from 35. Worth knowing where those numbers come from: they are stated in INE's own announcement of the updated exam, not on the certification page, which says only to complete the exam 'within the allotted time'. The questions are tied to what you find and exploit in the lab, so the 48 hours is working time.
What score do I need to pass the eJPT?
INE does not publish a pass mark for the eJPT anywhere on its certification page, so we will not quote one. What INE does confirm is that results are auto-graded and typically delivered within a few hours, and that the score report breaks performance down across each section, so you can see which of the four domains let you down.
Do I need any qualification or prior certification before sitting the eJPT?
No. INE states plainly that 'anyone can attempt the certification exam', and describes the eJPT as designed for individuals with little to no cybersecurity experience who have a basic understanding of networks and systems. There is no certification prerequisite.
Do I need an INE subscription as well as the voucher?
Yes, and this is the detail most often left out. INE states: 'To take the eJPT exam, you'll need both an INE subscription and an exam voucher.' INE sells bundles that include a voucher alongside subscription access. Factor the subscription into your total cost before you buy a standalone voucher.
How long is the voucher valid, and what happens if I fail?
INE states that regular vouchers expire 180 days after purchase, that you must take the exam within that time, and that if you do not pass you complete the included free retake within 14 days. Both attempts have to be submitted before the expiry date — the retake does not extend the voucher.
How long does the eJPT certification itself last?
Three years from the date it is awarded. INE runs a renewal programme with what it calls 'flexible renewal options designed to fit your schedule' to keep the credential current after that.
