App Store & Google Play Commission Calculator
See exactly what you keep after Apple or Google takes its cut. Applies the 15% vs 30% tiers — the Apple Small Business Program, Google Play's first-$1M rate and reduced subscription rates — and shows both stores side by side. Free, no signup, sources cited below.
How it works
The calculator applies the published service-fee rates from Apple and Google to the price your customer pays. Every rate below is a store-published commission, cited in the Sources section. The commission is worked out on your developer proceeds — the listed price — using two steps.
Step 1 — pick the rate. For the Apple App Store: a subscription drops to 15% once the subscriber has completed one year of paid service, otherwise it is 30% in the first year; a one-time app or in-app purchase is 15% if you are in the Small Business Program (proceeds at or below US$1,000,000 last calendar year), otherwise 30%. For Google Play: subscriptions are 15% from day one; one-time and in-app purchases are 15% on your first US$1,000,000 of earnings each year and 30% above that.
Step 2 — do the arithmetic. With rate r:
- commission = price × r
- net (you keep) = price − commission
- take-home % = net ÷ price × 100
The net is verified two ways — as price − price × r and as price × (1 − r) — which must agree to sub-cent precision. For the annual projection the per-sale net is multiplied by your sales per month, then by 12: annual net = net × sales/month × 12. Local consumption taxes (VAT/GST) a store may collect on top of your price, FX spread and withdrawal fees are out of scope here — the Related tools below cover those.
