MBA Fees in Sri Lanka — Postgraduate Course Fee Comparison

Postgraduate fee pages are hard to compare because no two institutes publish the same shape of number. PIM quotes one programme fee and says it excludes government taxes. FGS Colombo itemises five separate lines, two of which it then leaves out of its own total. PGIM prices by duration band inside a PDF. The Open University hedges some figures with “approximately”. This tool reduces each programme to the one number a working professional has to find, and then to the number they budget with — the monthly equivalent.

Every rupee here is transcribed from the institute's own page or fee document, read from this server on 2026-09-24. Each row links to where it came from. The arithmetic is all of the following and nothing else:

1. Total published fee = registration + course + library + examination + any other line the institute lists as payable to complete the programme. FGS Colombo settles the definition: where it publishes its own total, the label reads “Total Fee (Excluding Refundable Library Deposit & Application Fee)”. So the application fee — paid to apply, whether or not you are admitted — and the refundable library deposit are shown separately on every row, and added to nothing.
2. Instalment. Where the institute publishes a plan, that plan is used verbatim and the row says so — 35 of 81programmes do. PIM's MBA is eight instalments over the two-year study period; PGIM allows two above Rs 150,000 and four above Rs 300,000. Otherwise the total is divided by the count you choose, from 1 to 36: every instalment but the last is the floor of the division, and the last absorbs the remainder, so the instalments sum to the total to the rupee rather than to a rupee less.
3. Per month= total ÷ the duration in months the institute publishes. Where it publishes a band rather than a duration — PGIM's “Less than 18 Months” — the per-month figure is withheld instead of computed against the top of the band. That applies to 9 rows, and each says so.
4. Tax is never added. Three programmes publish a fee “excluding applicable Government taxes and levies”; those rows carry a flag and the sentence, and no rate is invented for them.
5. Nothing else.No inflation, no interest, no discount rate, no average across institutes, no scholarship or bursary assumption, no hostel, transport or materials cost. A payment plan's financing cost belongs to the loan EMI calculator, which is linked rather than duplicated.

A per-credit rate is priced only when the institute publishes the credit count on the same page. OUSL's MBA in Human Resource Management does — “Rs.8,000/- per credit. There are 60 credits” — so its fee is Rs 480,000, and the row shows the working. Its PG Diploma in Education publishes Rs 2,150 per credit and no credit count, so it is listed unpriced. Two semesters, or twenty credits, is the obvious guess and it is still a guess.

Every row where an institute publishes its own total is reconciled against the lines transcribed here: 19 of 19 agree to the rupee. And every priced row is split every allowed number of ways — 2,916 splits in all — with each one required to sum back to its total exactly.

PGIM's range sits above the others because a medical postgraduate diploma is clinical training with a registration fee and an exit examination fee on top of the course fee, not a weekend class. Its document also states that fees are 50% higher for private-sector candidates and that late payment carries a 10% surcharge; neither is computed here.

All 81 priced programmes, cheapest first within each institute, exactly as published on 2026-09-24. The calculator above filters and re-sorts the same rows.

A fee comparison is only worth reading if its arithmetic can be audited, so three checks run over the dataset on every render and the page prints what they find.

• Published totals. 19 rows carry a total the institute prints itself. The lines transcribed here must sum to it exactly: 19 do, with none outstanding.
• Instalment splits. Every priced row, split every allowed number of ways — 2,916 splits — must sum back to its total to the rupee with no negative instalment. All of them do.
• The FGS fingerprint. FGS Colombo prints its own total on only three programmes, so there is nothing to reconcile against on the other 31 — except that a faculty which back-solves a course fee from a target total leaves a trace, and it does: 29 of its 34 totals land exactly on a Rs 25,000 boundary. That is corroboration that the four lines added here are the four lines FGS adds — not proof, and the 5 that miss the boundary are named rather than hidden: Masters in Gender and Women's Studies — MGWS 2022/23 (Rs 143,500); Master of Manufacturing Management — MMM (Two Years) (Rs 144,500); Masters in Counselling & Psychosocial Support (MCP) — Two Years (Rs 214,500); Master of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology (MPCP) (Rs 974,000); Postgraduate Diploma in Conflict and Peace Studies — PGDipCPS 2022/23, Online Mode (Rs 102,500).
