Sri Lankan banks, ISPs and BPO firms hire against named security certifications, and the exam fee is usually the part that stalls people.

Pass or fail. Fortinet does not publish a numeric cut score. The exam page states only "Scoring: Pass or fail. A score report is available from your Pearson VUE account." Fortinet's exam FAQ adds that the grade reflects whether your number of correct answers is above or below the minimum required to pass, and that the overall grade comes from the total correct answers across the exam rather than from performance on any one topic. No prerequisite to register for or sit the exam. To be awarded the NSE 7 in Cloud Security certification you must hold the NSE 4 FortiOS certification and either an NSE 5 Cloud Security or an NSE 6 Cloud Security certification, and pass this exam within 2 years of the last prerequisite exam. Fortinet's recommended experience is 2 years with Fortinet security solutions, 2 years with AWS and 2 years with Azure.

How long it stays valid
12 months from purchase. Book and sit the exam before it expires, a code that has simply run out of time cannot be replaced, so do not buy months ahead of when you plan to use it.

Book the exam with Pearson VUE as normal, then enter this code at the payment step instead of paying the fee. You choose the date, and whether you sit it at a test centre or from home with OnVUE proctoring.
If the code does not work
If the vendor rejects it when you try to redeem it, tell us straight away and we replace it or refund you in full. Contact us before the voucher’s own expiry date.
If you do not pass
A voucher covers one attempt. A retake needs a new voucher, and the vendor, not us, sets how long you must wait before sitting the exam again. Check the vendor’s retake policy before you book.
Changing your mind
Full refund for any reason as long as we have not yet sent the code, including if you realise you have ordered the wrong exam, which is easy to do when codes look alike. Passing it earns the NSE 7 in Cloud Security certification once you also hold the NSE 4 FortiOS certification and an NSE 5 or NSE 6 Cloud Security certification, and Fortinet states that achieving it recertifies your NSE 1, NSE 2, NSE 3, NSE 4, NSE 5 Cloud Security and NSE 6 Cloud Security certifications if they are still active. An NSE 7 certification is also one of the three prerequisites for NSE 8, alongside NSE 4 FortiOS and an NSE 5 or NSE 6 certification in the same track. It is the credential that marks someone out as able to take responsibility for a Fortinet deployment across two public clouds rather than one.
Sitting this exam in Sri Lanka
Organisations that already run Fortinet on-premises and are moving workloads into AWS and Azure tend to extend the same stack rather than replace it, which is what puts this exam in front of cloud and network engineers — in Sri Lanka, mostly at integrators and larger in-house IT teams. Its infrastructure-as-code content maps onto Terraform and CloudFormation work those teams are already doing. The timing matters more than usual for candidates here. From 21 September 2026 this exam can no longer be sat from home over OnVUE, so a Sri Lankan candidate has to book a Pearson VUE test centre and should check the Pearson VUE locator for a site before planning a date. And Fortinet's US$200 fee excluding tax rises to US$400 on 2 November 2026, so sitting it before that date halves the exam cost. The voucher here is {{PRICE}}.

How long is the exam and how many questions?
75 minutes and 35 to 40 questions, in English only, tested against FortiOS 7.6 and FortiWeb 7.4.
Can I take this exam from home?
Only until 20 September 2026. Fortinet is withdrawing OnVUE remote proctoring for all NSE 7 exams effective 21 September 2026, after which this one must be sat at a Pearson VUE test centre. NSE 4, NSE 5 and NSE 6 exams keep both options. Pearson VUE said it would contact candidates with NSE 7 OnVUE exams already scheduled from 21 September onward with rescheduling information.
Is the price about to change?
Yes. Fortinet's fee for NSE 7 exams rises from US$200 to US$400 excluding tax on 2 November 2026. Until then all NSE 4 to NSE 7 exams are priced the same. NSE 4 to NSE 6 exams stay at US$200 after the change; NSE 7 exams, NSE 7 recertification assessments and the new industry certification exams go up.
Do I need AWS or Azure certifications first?
No cloud certification is required, and nothing blocks you from registering. What Fortinet requires for the certification itself is the NSE 4 FortiOS certification plus an NSE 5 or NSE 6 Cloud Security certification, with this exam passed within 2 years of the last prerequisite exam. Fortinet's recommended experience is two years with AWS, two years with Azure and two years with Fortinet security solutions.
Does the exam cover infrastructure as code?
Yes — automation tools is a full exam domain in its own right. You are expected to deploy cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible, and to deploy Fortinet solutions using Azure Bicep and AWS CloudFormation. This is not a click-through-the-console exam.
What is the pass mark?
Fortinet does not publish one. The exam page states only that scoring is pass or fail and that a score report is available from your Pearson VUE account. Fortinet's FAQ adds that the grade reflects whether your total correct answers are above or below the minimum required to pass, counted across the whole exam rather than per topic.
How long before I can retake it if I fail?
Fortinet requires 15 consecutive days after a failed attempt. Its policy states no cap on the number of attempts, but each attempt needs its own voucher — and if your retake falls after 2 November 2026 it will be charged at the higher NSE 7 rate.
