If the code does not work

If you do not pass
A voucher covers one attempt. A retake needs a new voucher, and the vendor, not us, sets how long you must wait before sitting the exam again. Check the vendor’s retake policy before you book.
Changing your mind
Full refund for any reason as long as we have not yet sent the code, including if you realise you have ordered the wrong exam, which is easy to do when codes look alike. Pearson VUE's published Microsoft price list puts Sri Lanka at 58 USD for a role-based exam like DP-600, with a 32 USD academic rate for students and educators, against 165 USD and 91 USD for the same exam proctored in the United States — roughly a third of the US commercial rate. Microsoft delivers exams at a Pearson VUE test centre or online to your home or office under OnVUE proctoring, and notes online exams are available in most but not all countries and regions, so confirm availability with Pearson VUE when you book. The exam is not offered in Sinhala or Tamil; if English is not your preferred language and the exam is unavailable in it, Microsoft's study guide says you can request an additional 30 minutes.

How long is the exam and what is the pass mark?
100 minutes of exam time, with 120 minutes of seat time per Microsoft's duration table for an associate exam without labs, and 700 out of 1,000 on Microsoft's scaled score to pass. Microsoft does not publish a per-exam question count, only that most of its exams typically contain 40 to 60 questions.
What is the difference between DP-600 and DP-700?
DP-600 is the analytics engineer exam — semantic models, DAX, Direct Lake, star schemas and the report-facing layer. DP-700 is the data engineer exam — ingestion, Dataflows Gen2, Eventstreams, PySpark, orchestration and monitoring. They overlap on Fabric workspace security but target different jobs.
Do I need a Power BI certification first?
No. Microsoft's DP-600 page lists no prerequisite. Practical DAX and Power BI modelling experience helps a great deal, but no prior exam is required.
If I fail, when can I sit it again?
24 hours after the first attempt, then 14 days between each subsequent attempt, up to five attempts within 12 months of your first try. Microsoft states you must pay to retake the exam.
Does the certification expire?
Yes — the certification page shows a Renewal Frequency of 12 months. Microsoft's renewal page states the renewal assessment is free, unproctored and open book, taken on Microsoft Learn before your expiry date, so there is no second exam fee.
