Sri Lanka Mobile Number Network / Operator Finder

Every Sri Lankan mobile number follows the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) National Numbering Plan: a trunk 0, a three-digit mobile access code in the 07X band, then seven subscriber digits — ten digits in total. The access code is what identifies the operator, and this finder resolves it in four deterministic steps with no server call:

1. Normalise. Strip spaces, dashes, and brackets. Map international forms to national: a leading +94 or 0094 has its country code removed, a bare nine-digit number gets its trunk 0 restored. The target is 0 + nine digits.
2. Validate. Confirm the result is exactly ten digits starting 07. Anything else returns a specific message — too short, too long, a foreign country code, or a fixed line — never a guessed network.
3. Extract the prefix. Take the three-digit access code 07X and look it up in the TRCSL allocation table:
   • 070 → SLT-Mobitel
   • 071 → SLT-Mobitel
   • 072 → Hutch
   • 074 → Dialog Axiata
   • 075 → Dialog Axiata
   • 076 → Dialog Axiata
   • 077 → Dialog Axiata
   • 078 → Hutch
4. Format. Produce the national 07X XXX XXXX and international +94 7X XXX XXXX (E.164) strings, each with a copy button.

As a credibility check, the operator is re-derived a second way — the generated +94 number is parsed straight back to its prefix and looked up again. When the two paths agree, the finder shows a "prefix ↔ E.164 verified" badge. Two ranges, 073 and 079, sit inside the mobile band but are not allocated to any operator, so numbers on them are reported as invalid rather than force-matched.

One honest caveat, stated in the tool itself: Mobile Number Portability (MNP) is not yet live in Sri Lanka — go-live is targeted for August 2026. Until then the prefix identifies the number's actual current operator. Once MNP launches, a ported number keeps its prefix but may sit on a different network, at which point the prefix will only reveal the original operator. This page will be revised on go-live.
