Who sits this exam
SOA-C03: AWS SysOps Administrator Associate is aimed at developers, sysadmins and architects working on cloud platforms. It sits at associate level and assumes some hands-on experience with the platform. Cloud credentials travel further than almost anything else on a Sri Lankan CV, because the platform is identical everywhere.

When it arrives
Emailed to the address on your order once we have confirmed the payment, by a person rather than automatically. In practice that is usually the same day and almost always within one working day. How long it stays valid
36 months from purchase. Book and sit the exam before it expires, a code that has simply run out of time cannot be replaced, so do not buy months ahead of when you plan to use it.
How you redeem it
Book the exam with Pearson VUE as normal, then enter this code at the payment step instead of paying the fee. You choose the date, and whether you sit it at a test centre or from home with OnVUE proctoring.
If the code does not work
If the vendor rejects it when you try to redeem it, tell us straight away and we replace it or refund you in full. Contact us before the voucher’s own expiry date.
If you do not pass
A voucher covers one attempt. A retake needs a new voucher, and the vendor, not us, sets how long you must wait before sitting the exam again. Check the vendor’s retake policy before you book.
Changing your mind
Full refund for any reason as long as we have not yet sent the code, including if you realise you have ordered the wrong exam, which is easy to do when codes look alike. Where it leads
This is the operations counterpart to the Solutions Architect – Associate certification, and it maps onto cloud operations, site reliability and platform support roles. AWS's rename to CloudOps Engineer is itself a signal about how the market describes the job now. Designing distributed architectures, designing CI/CD pipelines, designing hybrid and multi-VPC networking and defining security, compliance and governance requirements are all listed by AWS as out of scope for the target candidate — this certifies that you can run the estate, which is what managed-service and round-the-clock support teams hire for.
Sitting this exam in Sri Lanka
Cloud operations work is delivered remotely, which makes it one of the more accessible offshore hiring lines for engineers based in Sri Lanka. The exam can be taken online-proctored from home or at a Pearson VUE test centre listed in the Pearson VUE scheduler. Sit it in English: AWS offers this exam only in English, Japanese, Korean and Simplified Chinese, and is withdrawing the Simplified Chinese and Korean versions after 19 November 2026. AWS lists the exam at 150 USD, so a local voucher at {{PRICE}} fixes the rupee amount instead of leaving it to the exchange rate on booking day.

Is this still called the AWS SysOps Administrator certification?
No. AWS renamed it to AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate with the SOA-C03 version, which has been delivered since 30 September 2025. The exam code stayed SOA-C03. AWS states the new name applies only to those who pass the latest exam version and will not be applied retroactively to existing SysOps Administrator holders.
How long is SOA-C03 and how many questions does it have?
130 minutes for 65 questions. 50 are scored and 15 are unscored pretest questions that are not identified during the exam. They are multiple choice or multiple response; unanswered questions are scored as incorrect and there is no penalty for guessing.
What is the passing score?
720 on a scaled range of 100 to 1,000. Scoring is compensatory across the five domains, so you pass on the overall result rather than needing a minimum in each section.
What changed between SOA-C02 and SOA-C03?
AWS's own comparison lists a handful of specific changes: the old Cost and Performance Optimization domain (12%) was folded into the monitoring domain, CloudWatch agent configuration for EC2, Amazon ECS and Amazon EKS was added, CloudFormation and AWS CDK stack management was added, enforcing compliance requirements such as Region and service selections was added, CloudWatch network monitoring was added, and S3 static website hosting was removed. The weightings are also flatter: the first three domains are 22% each, Networking and Content Delivery is 18% and Security and Compliance is 16%.
How much experience does AWS expect before I sit it?
One year of AWS deployment, management, troubleshooting, networking and security work, plus at least one year in a related operations role such as system administrator. AWS also lists containerisation and orchestration basics and an understanding of CI/CD and Git among the recommended general IT knowledge for this version.
Should I sit this or the Solutions Architect – Associate exam?
They test different jobs. This one certifies that you can deploy, manage, operate and troubleshoot workloads; AWS explicitly puts designing distributed architectures, designing CI/CD pipelines and designing hybrid and multi-VPC networking outside its target candidate's scope. If your day job is running the platform, this is the closer match; if it is choosing what to build, sit SAA-C03.
